Special Services

In addition to our Sunday services, we also worship Wednesdays during Lent, and even outdoors for some Sundays in temperate months.  We do joint services occasionally with our sister ELCA churches in the C-U area.

All are Welcome

Good Shepherd welcomes all, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, age, or ability.  Good Shepherd is wheelchair accessible.  And Holy Communion is always offered to all.

Nursery

Good Shepherd has a professionally staffed nursery a few short steps from its sanctuary to help parents if they need a break during worship.  While we want children to be in worship as much as possible, we understand that attention spans vary and parents want to worship, too.  Our professional nursery staff put it best: “The nursery is a safe place for younger children to play during worship if they need someplace to go. There’s a lot of activities and toys to keep them entertained so parents can really enjoy worship.”

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is open to all who seek Christ. You do not need to be a member or a Lutheran in order to participate in the sacrament. All are welcome.  If children wish to receive, parents may indicate that to the pastor. Instruction about Holy Communion helps us grow in understanding at any age. Again, please see the pastor if you or your child would like to know more about Communion either before receiving or as a refresher.

Outdoor Services

Monthly, during seasonable weather, we worship outside on the front lawn under the shade of the Sycamore tree. Seating is provided, but feel free to bring your own lawn chair. Dress comfortably for the outdoor weather.

Seasonal Services

During the season of Lent, we also gather for shorter midweek worship services on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. We worship together with other local ELCA congregations for Thanksgiving Eve, Ascension Day (40 days after Easter), and Epiphany (Jan. 6).

Special Services

In addition to our Sunday services, we also worship Wednesdays during Lent, and even outdoors for some Sundays in temperate months.

All are Welcome

Membership is not required to worship at Good Shepherd, but is available for those wanting to join our community of faith.

Baptism

Holy Baptism is the way by which we become members of the church and part of Christ’s body in the world. Lutherans do not rebaptize; your baptism in any Christian denomination is valid and celebrated here. However, if you have not been baptized and wish to be, or wish to have your child baptized, please speak to the pastor.

Membership

We welcome anyone for membership that wishes to worship God here regularly, serves God here with their particular skills and gifts, supports our mission through tithing, prayer and/or service, and wants to make a formal commitment to be part of our community of faith.
