Next week: Retired pastor Roger Digges will begin a 3-week series on Women in Luke. (Note: there is no Adult Forum on Dec 1 due to Thanksgiving.)

WELCA MITE BOXES

This Sunday, the women of Good Shepherd will be turning in their mites boxes for our national WELCA organization. Mite boxes are a long-standing tradition for women in Lutheran churches. We give in thanksgiving for the many blessings we have received from God. We call these boxes “mite” boxes since they were used to collect change (or mites) to be offered to God. Today, we welcome coins, dollars or checks. These funds go to support WELCA’s mission outreaches. Please turn in your boxes or envelopes Sunday.

NAME TAGS FOR EVERY SUNDAY!

We are trying out a more permanent name tag system in order to get to know each other. Please look for your name tag in the box in the narthex this Sunday ordered alphabetically by last name. After church, just leave your name badge in the large basket in the narthex and it will be here for the next service. If you do not find your name, please let the fellowship server know so we can have one printed for you.

THE GIVING TREE

Outreach Committee is working with Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), and the contact person for Men’s SAFE House. The staff at LSSI helps each foster child involved in their program to create a Christmas “wish list”. You will find name tags with gift information and instructions for an LSSI child, or Men’s SAFE House resident, on the Christmas giving tree in the narthex, THIS SUNDAY. Please help us provide them all a joyful Christmas! Gifts need to be returned to the church by December 1. Please contact Agatha Barnes (agathak6@gmail.com), or Patty Hart
(cookiedunker@comcast.net), with any additional questions.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SERVICE PROJECT

GSLC kids are donating their offerings to buy goats and chicks for a family in need through the ELCA Good Gifts program. Help us raise $60 by Thanksgiving!

THE GREAT COOKIE "CAPER"

In planning several of our events during November and December, we noticed we will be needing lots of cookies, in fact nearly 133 dozen. We’ve decided to consolidate the requests and call it the Great Cookie Caper! If you like baking, begin now! We’ll have sign-up sheets for each event. We will freeze any that are left over from one event and use them at the next.
