Worship

3/18/2020 – Lenten Services in our building have been cancelled. BUT, you can still listen to, sing along, and pray with Holden Evening Prayer tonight at 7, (or anytime)! Subscribe to our YouTube channel for videos of upcoming worship services, prayers, devotions and more.

3/15/2020 – After discussion and in light of the news that a case of coronavirus has been diagnosed in Champaign County, we have made the difficult decision to suspend in-person worship and close our building until Monday, March 30. We will revisit this plan as needed. We will be livestreaming and posting videos of worship.

At Good Shepherd we practice open communion. We believe in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the elements of bread and wine. In the gospels we meet Jesus, God’s Son, who ate with sinners and welcomed all. You are welcome at this, the Lord’s Table. Children who commune in their home congregations are welcome to commune at this church. Children who do not receive communion are encouraged to come forward with hands folded to receive a blessing. Children normally receive their first communion after conversation between parents, children and Pastor.

“You are not just a worshiper at Good Shepherd. You are part of a caring and compassionate family of fellow believers.”

Nancy McCowen

Music & Choir

Our choir is an integral part of our Worship service throughout the school year, rehearsing every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Choir room and singing at the 9am worship each week. Bell choir practices and plays at special services throughout the year. Choir and Bell Choir welcome new members.

Children in Worship

Children are welcome and encouraged to attend worship with their families. Children are invited to come forward weekly for the Children’s Sermon and will receive a weekly devotional activity sheet. Small bags of quiet activities are available outside of the sanctuary for those who need extra pew activities.

Nursery

The nursery is available for families with young children who would like to utilize it during worship. Plenty of toys, coloring books, and a toddler-sized bathroom are available for your children while you worship. At least one adult volunteer is in the nursery and additional volunteers help out when needed.

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School classes for preschool aged youth up through adults starting at 10:15 am for the spiritual enrichment and education of all.
