Our last Cross+Gen Gathering of the year is getting buzzy! Come join us to celebrate the sweetness of God's word in our lives. Cross+Gen is a monthly, inter-generational gathering for parents and children, elders in the church, and others who want to learn and grow together. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:15 AM, Sunday, May 5th.
What does it mean to be connected? How do our connections with one another and God's connection with us bring new life? What might need to be pruned away so that new growth can happen? All of these questions are raised by Jesus' words in scripture this week. Come and worship God, ponder these questions, and discover your connection to the True Vine. Worship for April 28 begins at 9 AM in our sanctuary and will also be live-streamed on our website. Pastor Janet Lepp is our guest preacher and worship leader. #elca #champaignurbana
Raise a glass with friends as we sing music of our faith. Join us at 5 PM on Sunday, April 28th for Hops and Hymns at Riggs Beer Company, Urbana. #elca #champaignurbana
Some of the books we're always reading (the Bible), have read, or are planning to read soon here at Good Shepherd. Our next book club book is Atul Gawande's "Being Mortal". Add it to your reading list and join us to discuss when the Book Club meets again in September.
People of faith are called to care for the earth. May we care for the environment every single day by making better choices in our consumption of natural resources, reducing the waste we create, and advocating for greener practices and policies in business and government. Good Shepherd's Cancer Support Group will meet this coming Thursday, April 26th for prayer and mutual support. If you or a loved one are experiencing cancer, or if you've recently gone through treatment or are facing treatment soon, then this group is open to you. They meet the fourth Thursday of the month in our Small Group Room (a leader will greet you at the door and show you the way). Group starts at 6 PM. All are welcome.
